Van Hamme Construction builds new foundations and basements for homes and other buildings in Tama County: footings, poured concrete or insulated concrete form (ICF) walls, floors and the drainage system. Almost anyone can pour concrete. Doing it so it lasts the test of time takes an experienced crew.

Your options

Poured walls or foam walls?

A poured foundation is the familiar choice. A "foam foundation" built with insulated concrete forms is poured concrete with foam insulation left in place on both sides, so the basement is insulated from day one.

We plan each job for maximum efficiency and then hold the highest standards during construction. That is how we have worked since 1991.

New foundation questions

Poured or ICF foundation: which should I choose?

Both are strong. An ICF foundation adds foam insulation on both sides of the concrete, so the basement starts out insulated at R-40. We build both and will talk through which fits your plans.

What is included in a new foundation?

The footings, the walls, the floor and the drainage system. We can also carry on up and build the exterior ICF walls of the house.

Do you build from my blueprints?

Yes. We work from your plans, and ICF adapts to almost any blueprint.
